Stay Ready vs Hevy
Hevy records what you did. Stay Ready decides what you do today. They are different tools, and one is a lot cheaper.
Checked October 13, 2026 against the store listings and each app's own pages. US prices.
Hevy is the logger a lot of people switch from, and it is a good one: fast set entry, routines, charts, a web app, watch apps, and a feed where you can follow friends. Hevy Trainer, in the paid plan, adjusts your loads from what you logged.
What it doesn't do is look at your day. It has no check-in, no sleep, no joint check and no food, so a bad night or a sore knee changes nothing until you change it yourself. That is the gap Stay Ready is built for.

What it is
Stay Ready
A session built for today, from your history and readiness, with every prescription explained.
Hevy
A workout logger with routines, charts, a social feed and a web app. Hevy Trainer (Pro) adjusts loads from what you logged.
Sleep and how you feel
Stay Ready
Yes. A morning check-in (energy, sleep, soreness) and last night's sleep from Apple Health or Health Connect change today's loads and sets.
Hevy
No readiness input.
A sore joint
Stay Ready
A joint check before the session: green, yellow or red, with the type of pain. Loads come down on the movements that use that joint and substitutes are offered.
Hevy
No.
Shows its reasoning
Stay Ready
Why this? under every exercise, in plain words. Change the set and it re-plans.
Hevy
No per-set reasoning. Trainer adjusts loads without a readiness signal.
Nutrition
Stay Ready
Food logging, adaptive calorie and macro targets and calorie cycling in the same account. Targets follow the training plan.
Hevy
None.
Social
Stay Ready
No feed. Sharing and leaderboards sit behind a toggle, off by default.

Their side
Where Hevy is better
- 01A third of the price, a lifetime plan at $74.99, and a free plan that logs without limit.
- 02A web app, an API and a feed, if a feed is what you want.
- 03Years of polish on the one thing it does, and a very large community of lifters on it.
Our side
Where Stay Ready is better
- 01It decides the session instead of recording it, from your history, your sleep, your joints and your recent load.
- 02Every set explained, and you can change any of it.
- 03Food in the same engine, so what you ate and what you lifted know about each other.
- 04No feed to scroll past.
- 05Your Hevy history comes with you.
Which one
Pick Hevy if
- 01You want a clean, cheap logger and you program yourself.
- 02You like seeing friends' sessions.
- 03You need a web app or an API.
Pick Stay Ready if
- 01You've logged for years and still don't know what to do on a bad day.
- 02A sore joint or a short night usually ends your week.
- 03You want food and training in one place.

What comes with you
Export your history from Hevy as a CSV, then in Stay Ready open Settings, Training and Data, Import from Hevy or Strong. Every workout, set and date comes across, exercise names are matched to our catalogue, and anything we couldn't match is listed. Your first prescriptions start from that history instead of from zero.
Price
What each one costs
Hevy is $23.99 a year, and its free plan is enough for a lot of people. If what you want is a logger, buy Hevy.
Stay Ready is $59.99 a year because it does a different job: it builds the session for the day you're having, explains it, and runs your food in the same place. The first month is free, so finding out costs nothing.
