Stay Ready vs MacroFactor

MacroFactor is the best nutrition engine you can buy. Stay Ready puts a nutrition engine and a training engine in the same account.

Checked October 13, 2026 against the store listings and each app's own pages. US prices.

MacroFactor is the app that made adaptive expenditure normal: it estimates how much you burn from your weigh-ins and your logs, and moves your targets every week. Its food database is carefully curated and its logging is fast. Since January 2026 it has a Workouts app as well, sold on its own or in a bundle.

The two MacroFactor apps don't adjust each other. Stay Ready is one engine: the calorie target follows the planned training day, a cut raises protein, and the session you lift today knows what you've eaten and how you slept.

Side by side

What each one does

  • Price

    Stay Ready

    $9.99 a month, $59.99 a year or $219.99 once. First month free.

    MacroFactor

$11.99 a month or $71.99 a year for nutrition; $89.99 a year with the Workouts app. 7-day trial that needs a card. No free plan.

  • What it is

    Stay Ready

Training, nutrition and recovery in one engine: today's session from how today went, and food targets that follow the plan.

    MacroFactor

An adaptive nutrition coach: expenditure estimated from weigh-ins and logs, targets updated weekly. A separate Workouts app.

  • Expenditure estimate

    Stay Ready

Adaptive. Targets move with your weight trend and your logs over weeks, never from one day.

    MacroFactor

Adaptive, and the one the category copies.

  • Training and food together

    Stay Ready

One account. A rest day is fed as a rest day, a cut raises protein, and the plan knows what you lifted.

    MacroFactor

Two apps. The nutrition plan doesn't read the workouts, and the workouts don't read the diet.

  • Logging a meal

    Stay Ready

Search, barcode, label scan, a photo of the plate, voice or typed words, custom foods and recipes.

    MacroFactor

Search, barcode, custom foods and recipes. No photo logging.

  • Sleep and how you feel

    Stay Ready

Yes. A morning check-in (energy, sleep, soreness) and last night's sleep from Apple Health or Health Connect change today's loads and sets.

    MacroFactor

    No readiness input.

  • A sore joint

    Stay Ready

A joint check before the session: green, yellow or red, with the type of pain. Loads come down on the movements that use that joint and substitutes are offered.

    MacroFactor

    No.

  • Training

    Stay Ready

Sessions built from readiness, re-planned set by set, with Why this? under every exercise.

    MacroFactor

The Workouts app: programs and progression from your logs, in a second app.

Their side

Where MacroFactor is better

  • 01The best nutrition engine on the market, and the expenditure algorithm everyone else copies.
  • 02A curated food database and years of polish on logging.
  • 03If food is the only thing you want to track, it is the better tool, and we would tell you so.

Our side

Where Stay Ready is better

  • 01Food and training in one engine, so each knows what the other did.
  • 02Readiness: sleep, joints and recent load shape the session.
  • 03A photo of the plate, a voice note or a typed sentence count as logging, alongside search and barcode.
  • 04$59.99 a year for both halves, against $89.99.

Which one

Pick MacroFactor if

  • 01You want nutrition only, done to the highest standard.
  • 02You already have a training app you love and don't want it to change.

Pick Stay Ready if

  • 01You want one account for food and training.
  • 02A rest day you didn't plan, a short night or a sore joint should change both halves.
  • 03You want a photo of the plate to count as logging.

Moving over

What comes with you

Your weigh-in history comes in from Apple Health on iPhone and from Health Connect on Android, so the weight trend doesn't start from zero. Food logs don't transfer. The first weeks of logging give Fuel what it needs to start adapting.
